OEAC 1297 Whitewater Rafting and Rescue

This course provides an introduction to whitewater rafting and swiftwater rescue training. This course is geared to the beginner/intermediate boater and will provide the opportunity to boat rivers up to Class III in difficulty. An overview of equipment, proper clothing, and safe river practices will be presented. Rowing and paddling techniques for oar-rigs, paddle teams, and pack-rafts are covered. (2 lab)

4. Demonstrate competency in swiftwater rescue skills.

5. Plan a multi-day river trip that includes meals, camp locations, emergency procedures, and shuttle logistics.
