OEAC 1288 Mountain Biking

This mountain biking course will cover trail-riding techniques, bike maintenance, risk management, and clothing and equipment selection. The student should have some previous cycling experience and the physical ability to ride distances of 8-15 miles per day. (2 Lab)

In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:

1. Demonstrate safe, responsible riding techniques for a variety of trail and group types.

2. Perform basic repairs and maintenance including brake system and drive train adjustments.

3. Select clothing and equipment appropriate for the weather and terrain.

4. Evaluate common single-track trail hazards and features.

5. Lead others on marked single-track trails using trail maps or apps.
