MGT 4390 Mgmt and Leadership Capstone

This capstone course offers the student an opportunity to create a theoretical solution to a current issue in leadership. The student will develop a solution-based project using the knowledge and skills obtained in the leadership classes in the Bachelor of Applied Science in Organizational Management and Leadership Degree. The student will present their final project to a group of peers and the instructor. This class is highly self-driven, and the student will need excellent time management skills to ensure timely project completion. Prerequisite: Completion of MGT 3005, MGT 3010, and MGT 4005. (3 lect.)

Outcomes

In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:

1. Propose selected leadership and management theories for a capstone project.

2. Construct insights about one's ability to relate with diverse populations in a leadership/managerial capacity.

3. Produce an area of interest or problem where a new model is needed, or an existing model could be modified to build and sustain an ethical organizational culture.

4. Integrate critical thinking, innovation, and problem-solving skills in the diagnosis and recommendation of solutions for the identified problem or opportunity.

5. Develop an original model of management and leadership through the synthesis of knowledge gained in core courses.

6. Create an interview instrument to collect data.

7. Evaluate the validity of the interview instrument to assist in the selection of a model or area of interest.

8. Present project to peers through video or in-person format.
