Return of Title IV Funds
Federal Title IV aid is earned based on the amount of time you spend attending class. If you withdraw or stop attending before completing 60% of the semester, you may be required to repay a portion of your federal aid that you received. Students earn their aid based on the period of time they remain enrolled. If you complete more than 60% of the term, you are entitled to keep 100% of your awarded aid. However, if you never begin attendance in a course, your aid will be recalculated or returned in full. Likewise, if you were paid for all courses, start attendance in some but not all of them then a recalculation of aid would be done to determine the portion of funds that would need to be returned.
For online students, simply logging into a course does not count as attendance; you must participate in an "educational activity," such as a quiz, assignment submission, or discussion board post, to be considered active. Please see the Financial Aid Office or the CWC Catalog for more detailed information.
