Program Description
The Central Wyoming College Associate Degree Nursing Program prepares the student to become a competent, compassionate nurse with the theoretical knowledge and clinical skills necessary to provide safe, quality patient care across the lifespan. Ethical and legal standards, development of clinical judgment, and current practice standards are emphasized throughout the four-semester program of study. Clinical experiences in diverse settings are an integral part of the learning process and include direct patient care, high-fidelity simulation, and virtual reality scenarios. Merit-based preceptorships are possible in the final semester of the program.
The 65-credit nursing program qualifies the graduate to take the NCLEX-RN examination for licensure as a registered nurse. In addition, the program is designed to facilitate a smooth transition to the University of Wyoming for completion of an optional bachelor’s degree in nursing.
The program is approved by the Wyoming State Board of Nursing and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. The Wyoming State Board of Nursing is responsible for the oversight of nursing education and practice in the state. Successful completion of the nursing program does not guarantee professional licensure.
