WELD 1710 Oxyacetylene Welding and Cutting

This course is an introduction to Oxyacetylene Welding (OFW), Oxyacetylene Braze Welding (OFB), Oxyacetylene Cutting (OFC), Plasma Arc Cutting (PAC), Safety In the Welding Shop, and general shop tool use. This course provides training to develop the basic skills necessary for OFW, OFB, OFC, and PAC. All welding and cutting will be done on 1/8" sheet metal up to 1" plate. There is an emphasis on safety in the welding environment. (1 lect., 2 lab)

Outcomes

In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:

1. Pass the safety exam with a score of 80% or higher to gain admittance to the welding lab.

2. Demonstrate safe working habits while in the welding lab.

3. Demonstrate safe and proficient use of tools in the welding lab.

4. Demonstrate proficiency in Oxyacetylene Cutting on plate and pipe with manual and mechanized equipment.

5. Demonstrate proficiency in Plasma Arc Cutting on plate and pipe with manual and mechanized equipment.

6. Demonstrate proficiency in Oxyacetylene Welding on plate.

7. Demonstrate proficiency in Oxyacetylene Braze Welding on plate.
