GIST 1050 GNSS Field Data Collection

This course introduces the student to cloud-based GIS applications and field data collection using ArcGIS Online. The student will learn the fundamentals of GNSS/GPS technology and collect GNSS/GPS data using Field Maps, Survey123, and QuickCapture. The course emphasizes practical skills in creating Web maps and completing projects that integrate field-collected data making it ideal for the student interested in land management and/or outdoor recreation. (2 lect., 2 lab)

In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:

4. Create Web maps that effectively display spatial information using cartographic principles.

5. Complete a project that involves collecting field data with GNSS applications and sharing it via a Web map.

6. Explain basic GNSS and geospatial cloud technology and how it applies to field data collection in land management and outdoor recreation contexts.
