Outcomes
In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:
1. Identify the main idea and significant details in a variety of literature
2. Interpret meanings and make critical evaluations of academic and creative works
3. Present and discuss various theories and literary elements
4. Submit drafts of essays for instructor and/or peer review
5. Produce a minimum of 20 pages of writing (comprising no less than three essays, one of which shall be a 5 to 10 page research paper) considered to be "final draft" quality. "Final draft" indicates coherent, original essays that contain specific, thought-provoking, unified thesis statements supported by research, explanation, and appropriate quotations from the literary works
6. Describe the value of the social, historical, political, philosophical, aesthetic and/or religious cultural backgrounds of a variety of literature
