CRMJ 1825 Firearms Training for Peace Officers
This course provides foundational firearms training for the student who is preparing to serve as a Wyoming Peace Officer. Emphasis will be placed on the safe, lawful, and effective use of firearms in professional law enforcement contexts. Instruction will align with Wyoming Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) requirements and will include classroom, scenario-based simulation, and range-based application. (3 lect., 2 lab)

Outcomes
In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:
1. Apply the four safety rules in conjunction with safe transport and storage of firearms.
2. Address misfires and mechanical issues while performing duties as a patrol officer.
3. Explain sight alignment, stance, grip, trigger control, follow-through, and the effects of stress on shooting performance.
4. Demonstrate loading/unloading, reloads, and condition checks while engaging targets at typical combat distances using cover and tactical movement.
5. Maintain serviceability of duty firearms using proper equipment and procedures.
6. Demonstrate proficiency on handgun and rifle qualification course of fire.
