This course explores the anatomy of the face, the structure of the skin, disorders and diseases of the skin, facial massage and treatments, and shaving and hair design for the face. Prerequisite:  Completion of BARB-1525. (8 lab).

Outcomes

In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:

Identify the bones, muscles, veins, and nerves of the face.

Describe the structure and composition of the skin.

Identify foods and nutrients essential for healthy skin.

Identify common disorders and diseases of the skin, including the sebaceous glands, skin lesions, pigment, skin cancer, and aging skin issues.

Identify different classifications of skin care products.

Construct facial massage sequence.

Demonstrate different types of equipment used in the barber facial.

Demonstrate a consultation.

Demonstrate infection control practices.

Demonstrate how to handle a straight razor.

Demonstrate all the positions and strokes for freehand.

Demonstrate a shave service.

Demonstrate a neck shave.

Demonstrate a mustache trim.

Demonstrate cutting a beard design.
