MATH 1405 Trigonometry
This course emphasizes aspects of trigonometry important in the study of calculus. Topics include the trigonometric functions, numerical trigonometry, and trigonometric analysis. Interplay between trigonometric expressions and their graphs will be studied. Students are expected to use a graphing calculator in the course and on exams. This course is designed for students with little or no prior knowledge of trigonometry who plan to enroll in
MATH 2200. Students receiving credit for
MATH 1450 may not receive credit for this course. Prerequisite: Completion of
MATH 1400 or test into
MATH 1405 or higher. (3 lect.)

Outcomes
In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:
1. Evaluate trigonometric functions
2. Graph trigonometric functions
3. Calculate right triangles and oblique triangles using the laws of sines and cosines
4. Calculate trigonometric equations and interpret and relate these solutions
5. Verify trigonometric identities
6. Utilize concepts of trigonometry such as parametric equation and polar coordinates
7. Calculate vectors, complex number representation and conic application problems
