Outcomes
In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:
1. Identify characteristics of a positive self-concept and healthy self-esteem as it relates to the student’s unique learning style to become effective learners.
2. Explain guidelines for safe, responsible sexual behavior.
3. Define the concepts of an addictive behavior, substance abuse and substance dependence.
4. Discuss social implications related to drug use and its prevention andtreatment.
5. Develop strategies for taking control of time and energy, in order to move more effectively and efficiently toward the accomplishment of goals and dreams.
6. Identify self-defeating patterns of behavior, thought, and emotion.
7. Develop a system to learning important course content in college as well as becoming a more effective lifelong learner.
8. Explain the importance of personal decision making and behavior change in achieving a wellness lifestyle.
9. Improve creative and critical thinking skills essential for analyzing and solving problems in academic, professional, and personal lives.
10. Analyze the belief, behaviors, objectives, and/or other characteristics of the chosen culture and their effect on society as a whole.
11. Examine individual skills, values and interests and how they connect to major and career choice as well as resources for the career search process.
12. Examine practical applications of personal budgeting
13. Analyze the impact of government intervention in the market system and how this intervention impacts diverse populations
14. Demonstrate an ability to make effective decisions with financial resources.
