CNTK 1920 Interior Trim: Closets
This course is designed to teach the student how to design and construct closet systems in a residential structure. Instruction includes estimating material requirements and installing hardware to meet industry standards. (1 lect., 2 lab)

Outcomes
In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:
1. Identify various types of door jambs and frames and describe the installation procedures for placing selected door jambs and frames in different types of interior partitions.
2. Identify different types of interior doors.
3. Identify different types of interior door hardware and demonstrate the installation procedures for selected types.
4. Demonstrate the correct and safe use of the hand tools described in this module.
5. Demonstrate the correct and safe use of the power tools described in this module.
6. List and identify specific items included on a typical door schedule.
7. Demonstrate the procedure for placing and hanging a selected door.
8. Identify, select, and install closet hardware, including brackets, rod, and shelving.

During this course, the student should expect to be exposed to various tools, materials, substances, and liquids that are used in the construction industry. These products may be hazardous if handled improperly. The student is required to follow established safety procedures and to consult Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) when necessary. The student must contact the instructor for guidance before using unknown materials or tools in class or on the work site. The student is required to possess basic personal safety equipment including eye and hearing protection and to wear shirts, long pants, supporting/protective footwear, and other clothing necessary to work safely at a construction shop/worksite. Failure to come to class prepared or failing to follow safe work procedures may result in summary dismissal from class.
