ENGL 2140 World Literature
This course uses world literature to study the culture, history, and artistic endeavors of many peoples. Students will be presented with information about history, the writers, their works, and literary movements. Students will engage in a wide variety of activities, including practicing writing strategies, essays, and speeches and presentations. Prerequisite: Completion of

Outcomes
In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:
1. Analyze, through the lens of the world’s literature, how culture, economics, national origin and gender validate our uniqueness and our traditions.
2. Express how our individual experiences are molded by diversity of tradition
3. Demonstrate critical thinking skills by writing, presenting, and discussing various theories and literary elements
4. Identify cultural backgrounds necessary to understand the world’s literature in a complete and meaningful way through social, historical, political, philosophical, aesthetic, and/or religious approaches

Any information placed here must be adhered to by all instructors:
Students must create 60-150 pages of stream-of-consciousness journal writing and 20-25 pages of fiction.
