Outcomes
In order to successfully complete this course, the student will:
Review the developmental period of early childhood from birth through age 8 across physical, cognitive, social and emotional, and linguistic domains, including bilingual/multilingual development.
Create activities for teaching students how to access information.
Describe how assessments (formal and informal, formative and summative) are conducted to make informed choices about instruction and planning in early learning settings.
Identify student learning objectives and content standards to align curriculum and assessments.
Explain how safe, productive learning environments result in learners achieving at the highest levels.
Collaborate as partners with families in young children’s development and learning through respectful, reciprocal relationships and engagement.
Develop professional communication skills, including technology-mediated strategies, supporting young children’s learning and development and working with families and colleagues.
Explain instructional strategies for applying content knowledge in real world settings.
Pass the Early Childhood Education Birth to Age 8 Praxis (or Grade 3) Education of Young Children (5024) with a qualifying score of 160.
